PostChild Rights Development Specialist (International)
DetailSalary: According to Afghanaid pay scale Background: Afghanaid, an international NGO operating in Afghanistan for nearly 26 years, has a mandate to facilitate and support Afghan women, men and children in their fight against poverty, inequality and vulnerabilities. Our priority sector areas are food security, sustainable livelihoods, rural enterprise development with savings and micro-finance, good governance, and physical infra-structure development with cross-cutting themes of child rights, gender equality, community development and disaster risk reduction. We are a rights based learning organization that works with both right bearers and duty holders through grassroots programming and advocacy and policy initiatives. We’re looking for a senior level Child Rights Development Specialist with nation-wide responsibilities and overall leadership and management of Afghanaid’s Child Rights Development programme in three provinces of Ghor, Badakhshan and Samangan.

DutiesThe Senior Child Rights Development Specialist will be responsible for the future strategy development; programme design and its implementation and delivery; donor mapping and relationship building; external coordination and networking; capacity development of project teams, and to provide technical assistance to the field based staff and other stakeholders.
Qualificationpost–graduation degree in Human Rights, Development, Education and/or Community Development from a reputable university with minimum of 5 years of experience working in child rights sector at senior level; of which at least 3 years in international aid sector at a senior level, , preferably including work experience in Afghanistan or in a similar context.
SkillsYou will bring an excellent knowledge of child rights sector, preferably including from Afghanistan, rights based community development models, social mobilization and empowering approaches of long term development programme. Work experience must be either with a credible child-focused INGO and/or the UN. The post requires ability to deal with difficult often challenging work situations; and willingness to live, travel and work in isolated locations. Proven skills in mentoring, coaching, and facilitating learning and development of staff at middle and low management levels, excellent communications skills in English (and preferably in Dari) and influencing and advocacy skills as advocate and representative of the organization are needed. You will require a high degree of computer literacy in word processing and excel. You will need proposal development, analytical and report writing skills along with monitoring and evaluation competencies. You will also require established tack record of having led all stages of project cycle management and competency to work with significant level of autonomy and be able to meet tight deadlines, understanding and proven experience of strategy development, programme design and budgeting. The post also demands respect for local culture and religion, personal integrity, and self motivation as well as knowledge of personal strengths and weaknesses.
