Background of Organization
Afghan Women’s Educational Centre (AWEC) is a non profit, non 

political and non governmental women headed national NGO established 

by a group of professional Afghan women in Islam Abad capital city 

of Pakistan in the year 1991 in order to provide services to Afghan 

refugees (women and children) and then AWEC expanded its activities 

to Peshawar in the year 1998 and finally shifted to Kabul Province, 

capital city of Afghanistan in the year 2002 after Taliban government.

Currently AWEC has one head office located in Kabul province and 

four regional offices in Paktia, Mazar e sharif, Wardak, Faryab 

provinces plus one school in Islam Abad which is providing Education 

to Afghan refugee children in Islam Abad city of Pakistan.
•Objective :
1.To increase social consciousness and support in social 

development by creating support                                

networks and increase social work

2.To work for socio economic development in rural      

community through creation of community centres

3.To increase self-sufficiency among women through income 

generating projects and skill development initiatives

4.To improve living condition of the marginalized group of 

women and street working children 

5.To improve health and psycho-social well being                     

among women and children 
•Vision :
Establishing an environment, where women and children can have 

their human rights without any violence and discrimination, apply a 

strengthened civil society based on democracy, justice and gender equality.
•Mission :
Afghan Women’s Educational Centre with a commitment to promote human 

rights and gender equality works for the abolishment of any kinds of 

discrimination and violence against women and children through:
•	Awareness raising and advocacy 
•	Social Service delivery
•	Capacity building, self-sufficiency and sustainable development initiatives

participation and incorporation in decision making in democratic 

structures.

2)Organizing and mobilizing women and youth groups for an 

empowerment process through community based activities and approach.

facilitation access to market for women.

5)Creating a mechanism of women participation in                

conflict management and peace building.

and advocate for their rights.
