One of the core objectives of AWN is to build the capacity of Afghan women inside and outside the country and in this connection AWN has launched a series of Capacity building training programs. One such program was organized for improvement and building the capacity of Afghan Female recently in which AWN conducted a free training program in Peshawar under the title “Entry classes for University ”. In this program classes of different subjects including Maths and Trigonometry were arranged. The first term of this course started on May 1st and ended on December 24th and the second term started on June 24th and ended on December 24th.Click to view enlarge

A total of 60 female students participated in this courses in which 20 successful students were awarded certificates by AWN.

The participants of this courses commended the AWN effort for conducting such courses and suggested to continue to facilitate such educational trainings in futuere as wel.

Click to enlargeAWN with the collaboration of Compassion Services International organized a Medical Service for one of its member NGOs, ANCB on December 15th, 2004 at Peshawar.

Compassion Services International described 157 Afghans, which included women and children diseases and distribute them medicine.

AWN also organized another Medical Service with the collaboration of Compassion Services International and distributed Vitamin A among children of different schools in Peshawar.

  • Compassion Services International (CSI) was established in 1985 as non-profit humanitarian organization.
  • The purpose is to reach around the world wit compassion to people in suffering.
  • As Emergency Response Network, Compassion Services International brings relief to people affected by earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and famines.
  • The organization initiated Primary Health Care Program for the local community, particularly for Afghan Refugees in Peshawar – Pakistan in 2002.
  • This medical relief program runs in accordance with World Health Organization’s International Conference on Primary Health Care, held in 1978.
  • Although the initial program is restricted to the suffering Afghan refugees in District Peshawar, yet the organization aims at expanding nationwide.
  • The organization respects the cultural norms of its areas of operation and abides by all the governmental laws regarding NGO(s) in Pakistan.
  • Apart from stationary clinics in Peshawar, the organization also has mobile camps that provide health care services to Afghan refugee at their doorsteps.

Click to EnlargeThe Afghan Womens’ Network with the finacial support of GTZ could able to run a four month project (Capacity Building) in Nangerhar / Jalalabad Province of Afghanistan. This project will start from 15 Aguest 2004 and end on 15 Dec 2004 under these objectives:

 

  • To strengthen the capacity of government employees through bringing changes to their behavior and attitudes
  • To empower the government employees in a process-oriented manner by coaching and follow up of training events.

    Click to enlargeAt this stage AWN focuses its efforts and targeting the two ministries of MoWA, Social Affairs and also some NGOs as well.

    During this project AWN held eight workshops in different topics such as Management, Leadership, TOT, Micro finance and the target was governmental organization and as well as local NGOs.

    Right now AWN trainers conducing TOT workshop this workshop start form 7 Dec and will continue up to 10 Dec. After this training there will be a two days follow up workshop in order to evaluate and observed that how they work , how they implemented and transferred the knowledge they the got during the training session and what they expect in the future.

Afghan Women's Bill of Rights was presented to the President Mr.Hamid Karzai by women leaders from every region of Afghanistan, who participated in the third annual conference of Women for Afghan Women (WAW), organized in partnership with the Afghan Women's Network (AWN) and Afghans for Civil Society (ACS).This conference, entitled "Women and the Constitution: Kandahar 2003", was held on Sept. 2-5 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The conference was pioneering for two reasons.
