Gender Awareness Training in Badakhshan

Two-day Gender Awareness training was conducted jointly by the Ministry of Women Affairs and the Afghan Women’s Network (AWN) and financed by the United Nations Development Program from June 6 to June 7, 2005 in Badakhshan Province. Twenty participants comprising of 17 women and 3 men attended this training. The participants included representatives of various NGOs including Afghan Aid, CFA, and WFP, representatives of Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women Affairs, and teachers from Sahif-e-Shahid High School.

This training was the first of its kind in Badakhshan

Violence against Women and Legal Rights – 3-day Workshop


A three days Training workshop under the title “Violence Against Women and Legal Rights” was conducted in Heart-Afghanistan from 24/4.2005 to 26/4/2005 in which 25 participants from Government as well as NGOs participated. The training was a joint effort by AWN and VOW (Voice Of Women).

The aim of the training was to provide an insight to the violence against women in Afghanistan and seek ways to prevent it.

Gender Analysis - Workshop


A five-day workshop on “Gender Analysis” was conducted on 23-Feb-2005 at the Ministry of Women Affairs in which 18 (6 male, 12 female) participants comprising staff of Ministry of Women, Haj Auqaf and civil society organizations took active part.

The aim of the workshop was to enhance skills of MOWA / other ministries’ staff to practice Gender Analysis and participatory tools and techniques for collecting gender disintegrated data and information during situation analysis.

Gender Training workshop for Ministry of Disabled and Martyred


A four-day Gender Training workshop was conducted from 4th May to 8th May 2005 for trainees of Ministry for Disabled and Martyred at the Ministry of Women Affairs with the financial support from UNDP.

Besides participants from the Ministry of Disabled and Martyred, several other ministries were also part of this training workshop.

Participants, at the end of the workshop, believed that equal involvement of men and women was the key for a prosperous community and rebuilding of the country.

Three-day Gender training for the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Youth


A three-day Gender training, with the support of Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Youth, was conducted by Afghan Women’s Network at Gender Institute.

18 participants form the said Ministry and Ministry of Women’s Affairs participated.

The aim of this training was to build the capacity and raise awareness at above ministries in Gender issues.

As result, AWN was able to persuade the participants to accept equality of men and women.

Gender Training workshop - Kundz


As per the request of Department of Women’s Affairs of Kunduz province, AWN conducted a two days Gender training workshop in Konduz between 21-Feb and 22-Feb-2005. 20 women from various organizations and ministries including Ministries of Health, Education, Communication, UNDPS, UNAMA fully participated in the mentioned workshop.
