FOREWORD

AWN Members Directory is the first annual directory published as part of its continuing efforts to provide both its members and other humanitarian organizations with information on the activities and progress of organizations in Kabul and Peshawar dedicated to assisting and improving the lives of Afghan women. This Directory is intended for the use of international and local agencies, governments, and those in the private sector to locate, comprehend, network, and assist the people working for the women of Afghanistan and the women of Afghanistan themselves in their efforts to improve their lives.

AWN Members Directory has been published with the assistance of a grant from UNIFEM-Afghanistan, whom it would like to thank for its generosity. AWN would also like to thank all its member organizations for their cooperation and participation in the 3-month survey that was undertaken to gather information for publication in the Directory. Finally, AWN would like to thank its volunteer Irene Lu from the United States who conducted the survey and compiled the Directory.
