Activity Report - (WCLRF) April, May 2005

In the series of its activity report publication, Women and Children Research Center (WCRC) now communicates the activity report of April and May 2005 (equal to Hamal and Sour, 1384 in Afghan Calendar).

Administrative Activities:
At the beginning of year 1384, the center has reviewed and evaluated its performance and achievements of pervious year by conducting the weekly meetings or board members gathering. The progress of the projects and their successful completion was appreciated and new plans were set forth for the upcoming projects.

  1. “Badd Project”:
    By entering the new afghan year this project too has entered a new stage where this sensitive issue is denounced through making dramas and films.

    1. Dramas: For a better public awareness regarding the negative outcomes of this unfavorable tradition (Badd), the center has launched the production of radio dramas. This, for sure, would help people to get acquainted with the current realities of their society. The preliminary activities such as contacting involved institutions and writing the scenarios have been completed. The result would come up in two months.
    2. Films: WCRC is planning to produce a feature film of more than 30 min. long. The story is based on a real case of an afghan girl documented in “Badd a painful Analgesic” report. The initial steps for scenario writing are taken. By completion, this film will be shown in Kabul and provinces.

  2. Women and Politics Project:
    This project , conducted to assess the factors affecting women’s political participation has been completed. The report has been published by the name of “Women Political Participation” with 1000 circulation and in 65 pages.


  3. Conference Project:
    “The Assessment of Traditions’ Impact on Afghan Women” is another project that the center had been working on. This project was conducted to enumerate some of negative current traditions which are recognized as the underlying causes of violence against afghan women. The conference report has been published in Dari, Pashto and English languages with 1000 circulation and in 77 pages.
  4. Waqihat (the Reality) magazine:
    The fourth issue of Waqihat Magazine which is regularly published by WCRC has been printed out in 54 pages and 1000 copies with research based articles along informational and legal writings. It is worth mentioning that the magazine is distributed freely to governmental offices, some of embassies and all those organizations which have a connection to women and children issue. It is also submitted to Afghanistan Independent Commission of Human Rights and its field offices in 7 provinces. The distribution of Waqihat Magazine to Kabul and provinces is accomplished by Ney Distribution network.
